2027 federal holidays: three separate weekend shifts
2027 is an unusually busy year for the federal weekend-observance rule (5 U.S.C. 6103): three different fixed-date holidays land on a weekend and each shifts to a nearby weekday. Juneteenth falls on a Saturday and is observed the preceding Friday, Independence Day falls on a Sunday and is observed the following Monday, and Christmas Day falls on a Saturday and is observed the preceding Friday. Every date below comes from the same rule-based logic that draws the calendar grid above, cross-checked against the official federal schedule, not a hand-typed list.
